Gday guys

After strolling threw YouTube the other day I came across a Video showing how the Gameboy zero is make and now I am hooked. Huge Gameboy fan always have been but I am keen to build one of these!

Although I have no programming experience at all do I need much knowledge to do this I can solder etc and folllow instructions also is there like a basic build guide and parts list similar to the YouTube video I watched that lead me here!

Also I don’t have a 3d printer so will that let me down.

Cheers for any advice

Brad

Hey! Welcome to the club and good luck with your first build!

You absolutely do not need a 3D printer to build a gameboy zero. It'll help but you can do without any 3d printed parts at all (see Weremys original build videos on Youtube). That said, the 3D printed parts will give you a much cleaner and more manageable build. The Good news is you can order almost all of the 3d printed parts direct from their designers (see the market place for links) or some of them also have free to download STL files that you can send off to 3d printing services online or have printed at your local makerspace or 3d printing shop.

Thanks mate that’s great news!

What about the programming side of it is it pretty straight forward? Following guides etc

The easiest builds are without really programming. Just follow guides and copy files on the right places as shown in the guides. For example if you follow gpio guides.

If you feel more confident you can do the button controls with a arduino microcontroller. There again: just copy the already prepared code into.

All to build a gbz is written here somewhere by plenty of users. If you need help we are here for you!

And as said before: no need for 3d printer at all for the first builds. They are all fine with hot glue or 2 component resine. Even if it looks inside a bit messy, on the outside they are all fine.

Ok awesome !!! I have just seen kite circuit sword board looks like a very simple way to set it up also can handle the newer more powerful Pi or is it just as good to get all the products from wermys after market build and do it that way I’m sure it all works out the same ?
