Let's talk batteries.
Does anyone know if this would fit in the GB battery bay? https://www.adafruit.com/products/353 and are there any alternatives to the flat ion batteries Wermy is using. I have seen some people make their own batteries which seems a but scary for me. Just wondering what other people are doing.

Re: Let's talk batteries.
I used the smaller 4400mA battery from pololu in my GBZERO and it fits, with some serious trimming of the battery compartment.

for my GBZero im using this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/331809534517? ... EBIDX%3AIT
but for my Pi3 im using a power bank but like you said it can be scary as i had to deal with exposed live power wires for a while till everything was buttoned down.

Re: Let's talk batteries.
I ordered this one https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01716Z1 ... UTF8&psc=1 and received it today.
Does not look the same so I am a little worried. Is there suppose to be a board attached to it like the one in the Amazon link?

Re: Let's talk batteries.
they are still holding up but the only thing i had to do was change the connectors because it didn't fit the adafruit board. it charges up, it powers on and last plenty of time, enough for a few hour train rides.gargoyle67 wrote:@DirtyBullets, But are those battries you linked to any good and are what they say they are ?

Re: Let's talk batteries.
I bought these and soldered them together. The tabs are easy, but the batteries themselves are difficult. I put them in the freezer for a bit to avoid having them explode. Of course I put them in the battery bay and hot glued them together before soldering to ensure the pack would be flat.

Re: Let's talk batteries.
I'm planning to try a 2600 mah 3.8V battery from my old Samsung Phone (that died), but I'm not sure if the extra 0.1V will be a problem. The light on the powerboost board comes on just fine, but during the test the battery was not charging. Could have something to do with the fact that it was completely full, but could also be because this is the wrong type of battery.
Also i can't find a JST connector in the right shape anywhere... I may end up having to solder the battery to the Powerboost.
