Screen issues

Post by scbailey94 » Sun Jun 26, 2016 12:03 pm

Hi everyone, so I was almost finished building my GBZ but suddenly my screen stopped working. It happened when I connected the screen to the power breakout board that I made. I never modded the screen as it worked fine off 5V out the box but after seeing my screen on the wiki modded I decided to do that to see if the screen would work but still nothing :( I will upload some pictures to see if anyone can see anything I'm missing but otherwise I must have damaged the screen :/

Then it stopped working so I added the jumper wire like the wiki suggested but it's still not working. Is there any way to know if the screen is completely broke?

I had it all working and the screen powered up running off USB

So this is the screen I have. It's the BW variant 7 screen I think.

If your screen, or anything else for that matter stops working, check your connections carefully. You said you wired it to your power breakout board and it stopped working. That doesn't mean mod it or change things, go back to the way it was wired originally. Does it work? If so, the problem lies within a connection to your power breakout board.

Chances are you missed a connection in your power breakout or bridged a ground / 5v somewhere. If you're using the 4 wires that came soldered onto the screen, ditch them. I had the same as yours and they were soldered horribly and breaking in multiple spots. Just because something works doesn't mean it will always work reliably. It's up to you to make this thing awesome!
