"B A Start & Select" text indicators on shell after painting

Post by Joeblowv1 » Thu Feb 14, 2019 10:59 am

Hey all, pretty basic question here, but I'm wondering if all the great minds have figured it out yet.

So the original gameboy shells have a nice B, A, select and start on them. This, obviously gets covered up if and when we decide to paint our gameboy shells. Now, this does give a clean look to it, however some of us, myself included, might want to add these button names back onto the case, and quite possibly add X and Y to the shell as well.

So my question is, has anyone come up with a good method for this? Tiny stencil? vinyl decal? Is it not worth it?

Sorry if this has been brought up before, I don't quite know how to word it to search for it.

Your thoughts are appreciated!

Thanks guys

Take a look at this project that was posted awhile ago

I believe the painting portion was tackled with an airbrush and a vinyl stencil. Ended up looking really clean and had an out-of-the-factory look in my opinion.
