Not entirely sure. I had used it once previously just to see if it turned on (10 seconds at most). I had it plugged in today, and it started smoking after about twenty minutes. Quickly disconnected the power and pulled the usb. Took the dongle apart, and it charred the PCB and melted the plastic housing. Must have shorted somehow internally. No problem with the usb, I have previously used it and used it since then with no problems. Yeah, you quickly underestimate 5v. I touch it all the time and can barely even feel the tingle. Yet, it can destroy stuff pretty quick. I watched it start smoking, and immediately unplugged it. In seconds, it was absolutely destroyed. I'll have to post a picture tomorrow.Robots86 wrote:No complaints there then with a replacement on the way. Don't forget to connect your raspberry only with the micro usb noted as "USB" and not "PWR IN".This is what i will probably end up using. I have one of these dongles for my wii u. My GBZ has no internet connectivity otherwise, I only connect it in that manner when I need to access the filesystem for whatever reason.
