Hi
Please excuse this silly question as I'm coming back to my GMZ build after a two year hiatus and I've also discovered Coin Ops and other Fess's for MAME
So, I know that (two years ago) the kite circuit sword ran ES as the front end. Nowadays there are so many different FEs and some run on the pi. So, with the GBZ / circuit sword, can we choose any pi-based launcher / FE, or are we "locked into" a customized ES because the CS is custom hardware?
(It's not that I'm looking to remove ES. It's actually just curiosity and desire to learn/ understand)
(I'm building my CS after two years of it sitting in my drawer. Two years ago I followed some instruction set and put ES on a memory card waiting for my GBZ)...
Anyway, thanks in advance,
David

Re: Coin Ops for GBZ / Circuit Sword
your kind of restricted a little....
the Circuit Sword has been built from the ground up...
so the LCD is run via DPI and the WiFi modules is also specific (setup) to the CS
then you also have the way the shutdown and battery monitor are implemented....
thats why Kite has provided a pre-configured .img of Retropie
you could possibly (most probably) use something other than Retropie
but everything will have to be configured and implemented....
and even with that you still may not get all the functionality that you currently have with the CS
(enabling the WiFi may be one of the major stumbling blocks)
you best bet is to work with what you have....
