Where did you get the smaller charging board?zeppike wrote:I wanted to move a bit forward with this build albeit I am still waiting for some parts.
I decided to create a bit more space by using up the cartridge slot. To do that seamlessly, I trimmed a plastic case (from aliexpress 3$ 6pcs) to cover the places that will show but leave as much space as possible.
Also I scavenged a few parts from the original logic board. The power switch, and the volume pot will definitely needed and I think I'll keep the com port as well just to preserve the looks.
What I discovered and possibly you can also learn from it, is that the pockets board is easiest to cut with a pair of scissors. I tried to keep a bit of pcb with the parts just to let the hot glue to stick to something.
In the meantime I acquired a very cheep possibly working DMG. It had horizontal lines missing from the screen. I fixed vertical lines before, but these were much harder to get to. The ribbon cable has much worst coating, and the traces are much thinner. After I gave up fixing the screen I also tried to swap it with an old screen, but failed that as well.
The screen looks like a good fit! I am waiting on mine to arrive, and have been reading links about getting the spi screens working. Obviously I haven't tried any of them out yet cos I'm still waiting, but maybe one of these will help you:zeppike wrote:My first barebone spi screen arrived. I gave it a shot but, I am struggling with making the screen work... at all.
I followed this tutorial, but all I get is the backlight.

I also tried adafruits prebaked distros but those also doesn't seem to work for me, out of the box.
If you know how to make these work with the current version of retropie, please point me in the right direction.

Do you have a link to the exact screen you have?
**Edit** Do you have a driver board for the LCD?

For the red board I have a breakout board, but, I'd really want to make the one without the board work. It is definitely doable, but I didn't put enough effort into it. Oh wow, I definitely would have killed that screen trying to solder those connections!
Is the datasheet that's in the instructables post the same as the one for your screen? Sometimes the pinouts are slightly different.

I already requested some info from the seller, with little luck, but for now the closest I have is https://github.com/myelin/tiny-tft/tree ... inch-touch
which has a link in it for a slightly other screen which has the same pinout... I know how vague this sounds
EDIT:
also found this:
http://datasheets.gpio.dk/dl/2.4inch-tf ... 4-9341.pdf
it is 2.4 but pretty much the same as the other on isntructables.
