Pocketjuice battery charger

Post by FleaManThree » Wed Nov 23, 2016 6:00 pm

So I found these cell phone battery chargers at Walmart for 4 bucks on sale. They are 4000ma so i figured I'd give them a chance since I fried my powerboost accidentally. Considering the price of a powerboost is $20 alone, and the battery is up there too. It works great in my gameboy and the battery lasts forever compared to my previous setup (iPhone battery). Only issue I'm trying to figure out is that it powers off when I plug it in to charge it. I can get it to steal the voltage from the charger when it's plugged in by putting a rectifier in the line, but then it shuts off when I unplug it... But anyways thought I would share my findings with anyone who wanted a cheaper alternative.

By "shut off" I assume you mean turns off the gbz, but you can turn it back on. It shuts off because it cant transition between battery and outlet power properly (something the powerboost and other charging circuits advertise).

Not much I can recommend in terms of fixing/modding it.

Try a banggood powerboost alternative:

Long shipping time, but cheaper.
