It's a Pi3 so anything that helps with that will help here. In order to do both if you enable wifi, and also enable SSH from the raspi-config menu you can then use an app like PuTTY to log in to the Pi remotely (pi/raspberry) and run commands while doing something else on it. It's likely those clocks are because the Pi isn't doing much so hasn't clocked up
