Well, if there are people interested on buying, maybe open a pre order batch, dividing the costs could lower the overall price..

For a start its not my design....

the"Pre-Order" can only be done by the people who designed it....

it also brings up a second point....
if you go down the DIY route, the extra you have....
are not meant to be SOLD, this is something between you and the person whos design it it....
(the DIY board is NOT a commercial product for you, only for the person that designed it)

Also
in the grander scheme of things....

the Tinkerboy board is not killer expensive....
especially when you consider the total build cost of a Game Boy Zero project....
if the price is too much for you (30 or so dollars), then maybe DPI isnt the route for you.....


I appreciate people are on budgets.....
but we are only talking about 30 or so dollars, NOT $100....
(if $30 is to much for you to get the build the way you want it, then consider other options)

What i meant was, if the person who created the design would order some pcb's (for his use) and sell the surplus (knowing if there were people interested) probably would be cheaper than 30$.
Its not about the 30$ price that i'm talking about, otherwise i would buy a ready made one. What i expect is to understand how things work, how can we build it using that or other means.

ask Helder or HoolyHoo (they are the designers)....

the designs are available, via the links....
theres nothing stopping someone....

downloading
something like Eagle or any other design software....
watch
a few youtube videos (theirs plenty of tutorials out there)
and
use the shared designs as a base or point of reference

and come up with their own version...

its not that difficult....
just need to spend some time on it....



if thats too much work...
well that's were Tinkerboy comes into the whole equation (buy his)
because that what hes basically done (may not have uses anothers design as a reference)
but hes put the work in....

I was wondering how long the battery holds up with the higher resolution display? Does it drain it faster, or is it pretty comparable to the regular composite screens?

The second question is bit more obscure I suppose, but I notice that you lapped your chips. Do you find that it helps keep the temps down in the GBZ?

I haven't had this build in over a year....
(it was SOLD very shortly after it was built)


but the battery will/should last about a few hours....
the HDMI screen variant/version I used in this build was one of the best you could have got (just MHO)....

it didn't require any modifications to the actually screen, just a slight trim to the board/PCB
and compared with the newer variants/version it didnt seem to get as warm when using (there are slight difference to the PCB)....

but any power consumption or heat issues can easily be remedy (or kept under control), by applying this mod....

but if its referring to the heat sinks....
i personally cant really comment on this as I don't have the build....
but from my testing (when i had it)...
the build didn't get that warm, but that's not anything to go on....
as I've never built on of these to play for myself, so have never really tested any for a considerable length of time.....

With regards to the lapping: I guess I was referring to the heatsinks, but didn't realize that is what they were. It initially looked to me as if you had sanded down the ARM.

Lapping is the process of sanding down a CPU (or I suppose any other chip) to eliminate microscopic variations in the surface that might prevent a heatsink or other cooling device from working as effectively as possible. It's the kind of thing someone working to heavily OC a chip might do. Since I didn't realize it was actually just a small heatsink on the chip I wondered if that was what you were doing and why you would be doing it as it would have seemed to be overkill. Clearly, I just need to check my vision and/or learn to read properly.
