Kite Retro Circuit Shield BMO & GMO

Post by claytonsulby » Sat Jan 23, 2021 12:05 pm

I've been sitting on this build for a while now but I finally took the time to take some good pictures of it. I spend about a year or two working on this project for me and my sis so that I could rope her into playing some classics with me. It's based on BMO and I got a lot of help from other BMO projects on GitHub and YouTube. Featured is a modified Pixel theme with BMO and other themed collections, scripts to change from BMO to GMO, splash videos with "BMO-isms" before entering games, on boot, and screen saver, a modified Guardians of Sunshine fan remake, custom designed shell and logo, and some really fancy display stands. I really hope you guys like this and I hope I can be of help to anyone who wants to make their dream build just like you guys have. This forum rocks!

Underneath I pretty much followed every step and tip posted by Wermy and Kite. It's Kite's board, the Circuit Shield, and I got a lot of really great help from his help thread. I followed their posts for the build and it was really straight forward. What really captured my attention was the design of the shell and logo. My school gives me photoshop and illustrator for free so I took advantage of that and made the shell design. I took inspiration from the old polaroid cameras for the rainbows and for the GameBoy Pocket logo I wove in the sword and axe bass just like the Adventure Time logo. I have Bluish Squirrel to thank for the print. They even added the back sticker as a bonus. Very grateful for the service. The boot video and the backdrop in the custom pixel theme is taken from the infinitLoop BMO GBZ build. I used Final Cut Pro to make some new videos too. The game you can see running in the attachments is none other than the Guardians of Sunshine seen in the show. I modified a version of the game written in C++ to work with the circuit shield gamepad. Tricky stuff. I have Orbian to thank for that, as well as the repo he linked in his videos on his BMO build. Also the stands you see in the photos are from Rose Colored Gaming. Really high quality and very pretty. I only found their site through the Retro Future on YouTube.

This looks amazing!
The shells themselves are astonishing but the addition of the BMO as a launcher and especially as a screen saver is absolutely awesome
