Finally getting somewhat started on this, was able to source a DMG locally for cheap.

Here's the DMG
Image
It's missing the battery cover, gonna get it off ebay
Image

This screw was problematic, had to cut off the case a little
Image

The screw post was fine, will probably use a washer in there
Image

Insides had a lot of battery leak, im surprized this thing actually worked, I won't be using any of the internals for this project as I want to refurbish the unit if i can get the spare parts from a donor broken one

More corrosion, I used a dremel on this one, none of the internals were damaged
Image

Here's the shell in all it's filth, it's going to get washed tomorrow
Image

I bought this DMG for $50 pesos, which is equivalent to around $3USD, It's a little beat up but I got it with the tought that I might mess up a bit in the process, I'm gonna try to cleanup the internals and see if i can replace the contrast wheel, power jack and power switch and put it all on a brand new shell.

Next up I will be cleaning up this one shell and start cutting, I'm gonna use a USB SNES controller and place the L and R buttons from it on the back like in Chiz's GBZ since it looks pretty good, I was planning on getting 2 Z triggers from old n64 controllers but the snes shoulders work pretty good.
Still have a bunch of things to gather up and a while to go before I finish this but it's the first time I take on something like this and it's pretty fun, I find myself planning what I'm gonna do in my head every now and then.

Parts so far:
Pi Zero
DMG-01
SNES usb pad
USB Sound adapter (still debating on wether to use this)
3.5" rear view screen from Niceshopping which should be in my mailbox already.

Still not purchased:
Powerboost 1000
Battery
Donor GB game
DMG battery cover
Speaker
USB Breakout board
Amp
USB Hub

Gut it and put it through the dishwasher. Then you can figure out what else you need to do.

Oh my, this DMG looks like it was smuggled into a prison, if you know what I mean.

Maybe blast it with a hose too as well, that grime makes me cringe every time I look at it! :|

Washed it up but I couldn't de-yellow it, it was overcast all weekend, hope to get some sun this week.

Got a GBC in similar condition as well yesterday for free, started thinking if I should do this one instead but there really isn't a lot of space in there

I've seen some GBC rpi emulators, and they're cool. The biggest thing though is that you'll eventually run out of room, which means that you won't be able to put in a large battery or use the super cool SD-Cartridge that wermy made.

Otherwise, it works fine.

Screen is here, sadly It does not work out of the box with 5v, will do some modding this weekend and hopefully start to shape it up, still haven't found a hub that will work
