Re: D56: Gameboy Pi3
Got given an gameboy to restore so used the old parts for for the buttons support
Superglued the button support mount
the 800x600 LCD turned up,
Testing the LCD
Test fit the LCD and had to remove the metal frame from the LCD
Marked the edge (was gonna have a window but the idea was later dropped)
the dremal slipped and messed up the front
still bad
ordered another HDMI cable (the one that you can bend 90* ether way
Extended the wires and covered it

Re: D56: Gameboy Pi3
installed the shoulder buttons
Back of the LCD board for reference
installed the LCD and installed the keyboard PCB
Time to cleanup the wires
forgot to add the risistors for the LED's oops
USB Soundboard turned up
taken apart and stripped
tested the LCD and key lights
ohhh (yes the window protector is still on)
pretty colors

That is an impressive screen. This is looking real good. Bummer about the dremel slip.

Re: D56: Gameboy Pi3
Awesome build Doom, I am also doing a Pi3 for my second build. I am curious as to why a USB sound card might be needed for this build when the PI3 already has line level sound out via the headphone jack? Could this not be used to feed directly into an amp for the speaker?

What is your battery life for the pi3? I am doing a second build as well and was worried about battery life.

Not sure yet as i had heating issues but now resolved with a fan that runs on 5v but draws 100mA, will let you know the new results soon...dirtybeagles wrote:What is your battery life for the pi3? I am doing a second build as well and was worried about battery life.

Re: D56: Gameboy Pi3
Added the volume pot ready, but still short for a speaker and headphone jack (might have to move it because there is no room to use the original location due to the battery sizes,
Not much of an update but may give some ideas about the cooling, i used a heat spreadder and a small fan that runs on 5v, also then added a mesh at the top of the case to give it some air,
