Re: 2nd Gameboy Zero
Ok, i am planning on buing the last parts in the next couple of weeks (i am not in any hurry with this build )
I still need to order the HDMI screen, and a cable
i found this cable: https://de.aliexpress.com/item/5cm-80cm ... 72970.html
thanks to Sascha Spengler from http://www.objectproject.net/zeroboy/
i can't find any cheaper cable... if anyone knows of a better/cheaper solution, please contribute

Re: 2nd Gameboy Zero
After messing around with the cartridge reader on the gift build for my brother.... i eliminated that completely. (wires keep breaking, even with hotglue, and the wires take up a lot of room... )
now i am not sure if i want to use the reader on my own build....
also, i'll have to get some good inside shots on a positioned HDMI screen with good screw posts
Ill be ordering the screen (and cable, is nobody has a better alternative to the link posted above), in my vacation (next couple of weeks), so i can start building
Also i am thinking of adding the battery indicator overlay (just have to figure out if i can use that together with the safeshutdown).

Re: 2nd Gameboy Zero
Ok, the mounting problem for the screen is solved hahaha
just downloaded the helper from thingiverse and i am now printing some parts:
- button wells with drilling guide (one extra)
- hdmi helper (screen bracket, screw posts and button wells thanks to ZeroBoy)
- bracket for the rear buttons (thanks to @caste, topic -=here=-)
The screen and cable will be orderd in a couple of weeks.
Part from the above, i have all the parts to start the build
couple of things will be diffrent from the first build:
- no usb audio (using the 3.5mm jack on the screen board)
- better speaker (if i can find it for sale)
- no cart reader this time (extra room inside)
- better L and R buttons, using normal gameboy buttons, softpads and the bracket i printed
- HDMI screen in stead of the BW screen

Re: 2nd Gameboy Zero
nice progress....
that hdmi helper does have an issue with the left screw post with it being a 3/4 post (because it has to accommodate the usb socket and switch) and little more hollow
because the screw hole is also too near the 3/4 hole, there could be a high chance you might make the screw hole big enough to bleed into the corner...
i'm removing the switch and the usb port as their not accessible one in the case, so whats the point of having them....

Re: 2nd Gameboy Zero
Thanks for the tip! I found your topic and indeed read that about the screw post.
Ill first try this one.
If it does not work, i would like to try yours. Is your stl file available?

Re: 2nd Gameboy Zero
I don't mind sharing it (that was my intention doing via the guys thingiverse post)
But he got really emotional and starting accusing me of stealing his design and saying I was a copycat for remixing it .... (I don't think he really gets thingiverse)
But I'd rather not get people upset over something petty...
The last thing I want is people coming on sudomod, saying were pinching their designs...

bit weird though... he posts the design for free, on thingiverse, himself, but if someone alters it, he's mad? Erm... newsflash, that's how the thingiverse community works?
OT:
only thing im trying to find now is a better speaker
