Fraggle's first GBZ (from wermy's guide)

Hi,
Long time lurker but first time posting anything I've done. I'm actually already well into my second build but thought I'd post photos of my first attempt here. I essentially followed wermy's build using an OEM DMG-01 (broken) - the only deviation was using an AIO board for the buttons rather than the existing GB circuit board - this was because of some serious corrosion on the board that rendered it unusable.
Just to note I used a teensy 2 rather than an LC. (for what it's worth I've also got a bunch of Ardunio pro mirco's that work just as well for a fraction of the price, they can be picked up for around £1.50 on ebay - I have written code for them to work as USB keyboard or game-pad as well if anyone is interested in that). I also used a pi zero w so that I have WiFi and Bluetooth off the bat.
I realise this build is nothing special but figured I'd post all the same - really to say thanks to everyone here who has helped (without knowing it!).
Anyhow here is my first build (sorry the shots aren't that great).

I am looking at your wiring for the cartridge reader. Which version of RPZ do you have, v1.3? Also, I see you have DM GB cartridge reader, have you experienced any shifting in the cartridge?
Good looking build. Cheers.

It's a RPZW V1.1 - I bought a batch of 10 when they first came out. The cartridge part was actually the biggest pain, what I did was remove all the unused pins from the reader and then carefully pried the ones left up - this makes the cartridge fit very snugly with no slipping or shifting. I was actually surprised it worked first time without any tweaking. Soldering to the traces on the game board was tough!
So much so that I am just going to go with premade one for the next build - which is all after market parts (basically following wermy's second guide this time around).

I feel you here, still haven't managed yet. Thanks for the advice.

Oh - my other top, top tip would be to make the sd card read-only when testing. Like I said I was pretty lucky in that it worked off the bat, but as wermy says in the guide it would be pretty easy to corrupt or damage your SD if you get something wrong, or if the connection is flaky in any way.
To do this I followed this guide -
https://hallard.me/raspberry-pi-read-only/
Basically if nothing is or can be written to the SD card then corrupting it is *next to impossible. If you do this once you have the set-up exactly as you like then a safe shutdown circuit is pretty much redundant too.
* you could still wire it to 5v or V to the wrong pin and fry it!

Hi, great job, looks clean.
Did you ever need to use the three little buttons that the screen comes with? I ask because I just received the same screen and don't know if I will need to include them in the build.
