I'm still wondering how to make my unique status LED work with a RGB LED... did you try your solution yet ?
I was thing on connecting the Kite's SAIO LED pads to those in the RGB LED according to colors.

For example the RED LED + from SAIO (power) to the RED leg of the RGB LED. So when the SAIO sends signal to light the RED LED, it would power the RED leg on the RGB LED and voila...
Same for the green (charging)

It would be more tricky for yellow as it is 100% blue with 100% green. I suppose if i take the power from the yellow LED on SAIO and split it into 2 cables to power blue and green legs on the RGB LED it would work ?

What does experts thinks ? I'm not an electronic specialist, sorry if this sounds silly lol.

My aim is to avoid code if possible, and avoid using GPIO as SAIO has built in multiple color LED status.

Another update... turns out the vinyl screen border I ordered is way off center and isn't going to work at all. Ordered a screen cover from Kitsch-bent but it won't be here for a week at least. Very frustrated...

Sorry for the lack of updates! Between waiting for parts to arrive and being on vacation I haven't had a lot of time to work on this project. Fortunately, I have been able to do a dry fit. Unfortunately, due to having to mount my screen upside down so it doesn't collide with the button wells, there is no room to put my HDMI port in the contrast slot. It seems I will have to just cover it up with some plastic as I can't see any way to mount anything there. Any tips?

Not sure if that works with Kite's board, because multiple LEDs (Power, Battery, Wifi and Status) can be on at the same time. So in the worst case you'll just end up with different hues of white.

It would be OK if you had Power (Red) when everything is off but you have connected power. Add Charging (green) to get Yellow while it's powered and charging. I believe that could work right out of the box and if you use the Pi Zero W, this'll be what's most important. Because the screen doesn't tell you whether the gbz is powered or charging.

You could add Status (Blue) to get cyan, magenta and white for a combination of power, charging and status, but I'm not sure how useful that is.

Sorry for the lack of updates. I've been getting ready to leave on vacation. Most of the wiring is done though!

I have a question about connecting the Powerboost's LEDs to the microchip on Helder's AIO. Which of the two terminals should I wire to the board? I did a small experiment using a multimeter set to ohms and one of the Powerboost LEDs: when I put the multimeter's negative terminal on one side of the LED and the positive one on the other, the dial went all the way in one direction, as if the resistance was less than zero. When I swapped the two terminals, the dial went the other way, as if the resistance was more than the multimeter could measure. Could I use this information to discern which side of the LED to wire up to the AIO?

Thanks.
