Hi,
i start to create a GBZ without AOI boards and I want to show you my current status.
In the next weeks I have to wait for a new amplifier board. Unfortunately, China is so far away.

As one of the first steps, the housing is adapted for the components.

Since the screen is too large for the housing, the sides had to be ground.

Image
glue the additional base of the later X Y buttons.

Image
Also the right side must be ground by 0.5 mm.

Image
After drilling the holes for the L R button came the assembly of the buttons.

Image
The fastening was done with a piece of the sheet metal in the Gameboy.

Image
Keys L and R are ready.

Test the USB hub with the Pi and the Leonardo board.

Installation of the USB hub in the old game case.

In the game box is the USB charging port.

Cable Arduino and the 2 cables for the Pi.

Installation of the USB sound card

Solder the volume setting

Interval for testing

Test the functionality of sound and USB input

Built-in monitor and Button board

Installation Power booster and battery and switch

Solder the 10K resistor for battery indication

Composite output, I have the cables then still exchanged since twisted.

Ready for the next test

all works, now i wait for my post from China :D

Really nice build, particularly like the "fake" cartridge for the USB hub/charging port - very neat.

What screen/driver board are you using? (sorry if you said and I missed it).

Great stuff!

Hi Fraggle
I use a VGA AV Controller Board with 3.5inch lcd display 640x480 resolution PD035VX2.
I try to use the VGA conection but the Gert666 Adapter was to big to get it inside and the quality with TV out ist ok.
