HI team,

I'm reasonably new to all this but over the last few months I have been picking up parts and putting together my first GBZ.
I've watched so many videos and read many threads on here, which have all been very helpful so thanks to everyone.

I havnt done anything too out of the box, but as you will see i picked up a Gearbest TFT screen,

A Teency LC

this was also my first time soldering since i was at high school... many moons ago

I picked up the button PCB off ebay, from an Australian supplier. I'm in NewZealand so these parts arent easy to find locally.

I modified an aftermarket case from china, not the best quality, but it turned out ok for a first attempt
Image

I also had trouble sourcing a RPi Zero, so started using a Rpi 3, which for obvious reasons wasnt ideal. But it gave me a good idea of what i was trying to achieve.
Image

I also had trouble getting the Rpi to auto detect it was meant to be using composite video instead of HDMI, but worked it out eventually.
Image

finally got it fired up on the Rpi3, even with its umbilical cords still attached.

then yesterday my Rpi Zero W finally arrived, and i got to replace the Rpi 3.
Image

finally it all fits inside the case...
Image

Next job is to find a battery system, and get it running completely portable.

Ive seen some of the cool things people have done, and i think once i get this one running off a battery, ill but a second lot of gear and make another one, but keep it tidy and legit.

any feedback is welcomed!

cheers for reading.

you would be correct, the cable coming out the bottom was for power,

though I have now included a small battery and controller board to the build.

Are you really going to use that 500mAh battery in your build ? YOU EVEN won’t have an hour autonomy with it ...

yeah even with yaya's optimization to save on battery life that 500mah wont last very long.

I'd wager 45mins before you need to shut it off (never let the pie lose power or hard shut off, always shut it down properly or you risk corrupting the SD card)

You can check my build log under my signature, the samsung galaxy s2 battery that i’m using gives my 7.5hours of play time with some optimization (also found on my signature)

I second veterans suggestion. That battery fits like a glove. Also, for your first gameboy, it's coming along real nice. You got some clean cuts there. My first one looked horrible haha keep it up
