OK, maybe not the ultimate.....
but it is custom....

but here is my take, if the Raspberry Pi Foundation and Nintendo teamed up (which ain't never happening)
plus I've seen so many SNES/Famicom inspired builds, but IMHO felt they were lacking something (again IMHO)





















IMHO, no SNES inspired build should be without its very own SNES cart at the back (it just finishes it off)











this build has the 3.2" SPI TFT LCD, and even though it gets a bit of a bad rap (IMHO), i think is a great alternative to the 3.5" composite screens widely used
(especially the backup camera monitors..... personally i'd recommend the gearbest over those)

the LED placements was also a factor, on previous builds i had them bunched up which makes placement a little easier (all wires going in one direction)

on this build i have the power on LED in line with the ON imprinted on DMG case/shell (link to LED below)....




and i only have one LED for charging, it will light up when charging and turn off when fully charged (similar to a NDSL)
its place directly above the charging port....







the battery used is a generic 3.7v 4000mah lipo, it only costs around £10, and does fit without really much modification into the battery bay

i've still got a couple of minor things to do until i can completely sign this build off.....
one of them being is to install the ADS1115

the ADS1015 or ADS1115 if paired with HoolyHoo script will give you an on-screen battery indicator....

heres how i intend to wire it up (still not sure if i need to or want to also include the function button)






everything else works perfectly, and i didnt want to start messing around with this and if anything went wrong would then have to start afresh (software wise)

and ideal scenario would be if someone could modify HoolyHoo mintyPi on-screen battery script to be used with a ADS1115 and also scrap the safe shutdown feature (but that might be too much to ask)

this build has stereo sound, and it works and works really well......





i didn't need to add any resistors or suppressing measure to the audio setup....
the only downside (and its a minor one) is that when you turn the system on you get a slight pop...
this is because of the delay between the amp and the sound card, i'm going to look into a remedy but can live with it for now

heres a sound test....














the speakers i used were from a samsung laptop from the NP-RV series
and they were only a coulpe of pounds
they look like really good quality and the sound for such a small speakers is REALLY good

they all might be VECO speakers, but i ordered a couple of sets and one of them didn't have VECO on them (so dont take my word for it)






they have to be removed from there housing, but i'd go easy when removing as the housings may come in handy....






i ended up using the housing to support the speakers in the DMG case, and for me it worked a pretty good (no rattles or movement)

i cut two halfs of each housing and glued them together (the housings have little notches in them to keep the speakers in place)

the things that separate this SNES inspired build from the others are the additional touches....
and it not just relying on SNES coloured buttons (the buttons used are from an original Super Famicom controller)


the screen surround (which i'm not 100% happy with, but will do for now) has been talked about on a previous thread....

its been made by me, at home using clear vinyl and my antique inkjet printer....





it looks ok for a first attempt





but i'm going to try a few more times until i can get them spot on.....
luckily as i'm printing them on a A4 sheet, you can get about 8 on it (so theres plenty to keep trying)





i also made a custom splash video to go with the build......



i appreciate that not everyone's gonna go to the lengths of calling their build something other than a GBZ....
so i've also made a splash video for anyone that wants something to complement their SNES inspired build...




the theme used in this build is another great piece of work by ruckage (big props to him)
for those that dont know, its a SNES mini/classic theme
its not 100% compatible with the smaller screen, even though he has given options for it to be (but its still not 100%)








and now last, but certainly not least.....
as some would say the pièce de résistance (or maybe just me)

the SNES cart at the back instead of a Game Boy cart....
personally i think its a nice touch, and something different to other builds and it goes with the whole theme of the build....
this i have to thank Daftmike for giving me the idea.....






i am at some point i'm going to have the HDMI port in the top of the SNES cart....
this i plan to achieve with a FPV flat HDMI cable.....

Any chance you'll share the stl for the screen bracket. I've got a 3.2" screen waiting for my next build. Hoolyhoos bracket can work. But the screen slides a bit.

Lot of work going into this one, looks great. I'm actually working with the ads1115 as well right now, on a custom board. I'll let you know if i run into anything you can find useful. So far, I followed the same thread you linked a while back and that was very useful. I think the safe shutdown would actually be a cool feature to keep, to just have it as an option
