Veteran,

Since the scaled down SNES cart is shorter than a gameboy cart how do you keep it from sliding too far down in the gameboy?
at the moment its not fixed/glued in place as i intend at some point to have an HDMI port built into it
(using a FPV flat HDMI cable)

once i get around to doing that, i will most probably either epoxy or super glue it into to place
(my cart as it is... is already firmly in place without the need of glue... and thats with a 4 & 6 yr playing it)

i've had a screen surround made (its alot easier than doing it yourself, and the results are pleasing)....

I bought same leds, can you share your resistors values to have same light emission between blue led and red led?

if you bought the LEDs from the same seller from the link i provided....

2MM Lighthouse LED

he already provides a resistor value guide in the listing description (please have a look)....
(if you bought the LEDs elsewhere, they may differ slightly, highly unlikely, but possible)

but some have stated that you don't actually need resistors...
https://sudomod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=5018

personally i found without the resistor the LEDs were too bright for my liking, o adding the resistors help dim them a little
(especially if using a lighter coloured shell/case, as the light bleeds through.... like a white shell/case)

With the potentiometer wheel mounted in this way(b103 pcb sitting to dmg back shell), does the volume increase by rotating downwards?
(so reversed compared to the original game boy)
I wired it in the same way and volume is reversed!I also inverted in and out wires but with same results.

its not the way you wire it that is the issue (even though its not an issues to be overly concerned about)

but where the volume wheel is position within your build....
to get it to function like a factory Gameboy, it needs to be placed in the front part of the shell/case.....

i positioned mine to limit the lengths of the wiring, its one of the reasons i have crystal clear sound in my build.....

Agree,I'm doing the same to limit wiring and issues but i don't like that volume increasing is reversed.
Is there an electrical solution to put b103 on back shell and increase volume by turning wheel up?

there might be....
i havent actually tried or aware of it......

you could flip the volume wheel and have the metal part face you, that will fix the "reversed" issue you have....
(but then you have the challenge of how to mount it)

personally i dont really see it as a big issue, it would be nice to have it as factory....

but if its bothering you so much, just mount it on the other side (some extra wire isn't gonna be that bad).....

i've designed some boards that i feel will make working with these SPI screens a little cleaner......
(i will be installing these into the build at some point)

(a big thanks to Moosepr and Helder for their help & support)

these boards are shared and avaialble on Oshpark.....

Image

they work flawlessly.....

The boards

https://oshpark.com/shared_projects/IzZ86uBr
https://oshpark.com/shared_projects/1tm0wj1M
https://oshpark.com/shared_projects/6WirTrF6

you have a board for a forward/straight ribbon cable (8 Pin 1.0mm Pitch)
and another if you plan on using a reversed (8 Pin 1.0mm Pitch)
(this is based on if you use bottom contact ribbon connectors)

other bits
Ribbon Cable
Custom Lenght Ribbon Cable
1.0mm Pitch FFC/FPC Flat Cable Connector
0.8mm Pitch FFC/FPC Flat Cable Connector
(the 0.8mm pitch connector for the screen isnt needed if you solder the screen to the board)

the one i'll most probably be using in this GBZ is this board (the other board can also be use, it more universal)....
its designed....
if you have the Pi Zero positioned how i have it where you can access the SD card via the contrast opening you'll only need a short ribbon cable without out the need to have many kinks or bends....
