Hex's 2nd Build, Christmas Special CardyPi

Post by Hex » Tue Jan 09, 2018 5:03 pm

Hey guys, this is my second cardboard build and rocks a minimal look. It runs a custom frontend called Viper. Lets make the pictures do the talking.

But there were some problem with the powerboost 500c and it crashed once the Pi booted up but powering with USB worked as expected.

Nice and sealed picsShow
Size comparison with a Pi zero. Green and blue buttons are mapped to start and select. The A buttons hole was a tad bit bigger than expected; had to improvise. the screen is 2.2inch SPI 320x240

Side view has HDMI out, MicroUSB Power in, Indicator LED and Full size usb port.

From the top we have a switch, charging and done charging LEDs

The Viper frontendShow
The frontend Viper has two Systems view that can be used currently. This one is Pages View and the one bellow is List View

The Gamelist View has optional Boxart images support

Viper also has theming support so different systems look different

love it....

now i was going to say....
i like the thinking outside the box, but not sure if it should be thinking inside the box (either way, i like it)

also liking the simple frontend (great for the smaller screens)

ps... and a point to all, you dont have to spend big to pull of a build....

how did you spend $5 on a BL-5C? or did it come with a 'free' phone ;) (surely you could've got that down to practically ~$0 by either digging through your (or a friend's) box of old phones... (almost everybody has a box of old nokias don't they?) :P
