Original postShow
Features:
-Much thinner (~1cm)
-Much lighter
-Fits Pi3
-Fully printable
-80% screw joints
-2 external USBs

I designed this because the original DMG shell was just too big. I also wanted everything to go together as cleanly as possible. I've test fitted everything up to this point and am soon going to do a final, HQ 3D print. I'm only waiting on the button board at this point.

In the pics, the brackets for the speaker, amp, powerboost and charging port are hidden. They fit into the "chin" beneath the button board. I should note that this design will fit a full Pi (with ports removed). Mine's just cut because previous iterations required it.

Here are the pics (without the screen lens):

I've finished!

Features:
-Much thinner (~1cm)
-Much lighter
-Fits Pi3
-Fully printable
-95% screw joints
-2 external USBs
-Uses common parts

Specs:
-Pi 3
-PowerBoost 1000C
-Adafruit 2.5W audio amp
-Gearbest 3.5" composite display
-2500mAh Adafruit LiPo

I designed this because IMO, the original DMG shell was just too big. I also wanted everything to go together as cleanly as possible.

Without further delay, here are the photos (without screen lens):

Looks really great....
Nice work so far....

Just one thing...
if your printing the case/shell, why would you not have the screen opening squared on all corners...

Using a GBZ surround wouldn't make sense, if you can control the opening (can just have some plexi cut to size)

But really liking this, and looking forward to the finished article....

I wanted to preserve the Gameboy styling. It's pretty iconic. I also wanted to use an existing screen cover.

Is there any chance you'r going to release the STLs? I'm looking for a case to print with my new 3D printer!

Once I've printed and assembled it just because I want to make sure the design works. If you go through my post history, you'll see I released an older version of the model without the slimming. That one is the exact same dimensions as a regular dmg.

This is pretty cool. I like the idea of trying to print a case, since I've got a 3d printer now ;)

It's not easy to see, but it's there in the first picture. Here's a screenshot of the design:

Progress update:
-I have a fully working system
-I'm still working on getting a nice print

The design for now seems to be complete, but that can only be determined once the whole thing is together.
