Hello everbody!
First thing i'm Italian and I'm sorry for my english
Second things, this is my first ever project with electronics and so please be gentile with me
From August to October I'm waiting for the new preorder of Kite's circuit sword and after placing one preorder i've used the time to wait my "little present" studying electronics and collecting all the stuff needed.
I started from nothing... so i had to buy also stuff like iron solder or dremel (my wife is so happy now... )
This is the list of stuff used:
Hardware
- Kite's Circuit Sword with fan and standard screen
- HoolyHoo AIO Brakets with 4 holes
- Kubino's DMG pre-cut case with 4 shoulders button
- 3000 mAh battery (https://www.ebay.it/itm/Batteria-telefo ... Swke9aJo53)
- Modula battery contact (https://www.ebay.it/itm/MODULAR-BATTERY ... SwJs1Z16VZ)
- Tactile switch with colored caps for shoulder battons (https://www.amazon.it/gp/product/B06XT5 ... UTF8&psc=1)
- An original Tetris cartridge (i've got 2)
- 32 Gigabytes micro SD card
- Custom splashscreen (https://www.dropbox.com/s/teea0vrjnlm06 ... n.mov?dl=0)
- Custom cartridge label
- Dremel
- Iron solder
- Hot glue gun
- Kapton tape (the best thing in the world!)
- A4 Cutting board
- So much patience...
I've choose to make an original DMG exactly like the one of my childhood (I'm turning 33 this year )
Before to come in depth with details i will showing you some pics of the final result
I don't want to explain the assembling process cause Kite has explained so much better then i could, i would just showing you how i've solved some tricky part of the job.
In the beginning it was all on the cutting board
- Battery bay
- Shoulders buttons
- Removable cartridge
After cleaning up with dremel to make room for battery, i found a battery on e-bay that fixe exactly with the space of the DMG battery bay.
It's a Samsung Galaxy S supersized battery.
I've choose this kind of battery cause it have a 3 pin connector that allow a much easier removing from his bay.
But then i had to place a 3 pin connector in the bay...
I put in place the battery and the connector inside the bay and i marked with pencil where to put the connector.
After that I've made an hole in the bay exactly rear the connector to allow the wires to pass thru.
Soldering the wires to the connector and glueing it to the bay, and that's all!
For this GBZ i've choose to have all the L1 L2 & R1 R2 buttons (i love so much PSX...)
The case modded by kubino has the tactile black buttons, and i wanted to find a solution to have a much more pretty look buttons.
I've found this colored button caps that makes all so much beautiful.
The buttons color are a tribute to European versione of SNES ABXY buttons color.
Off course i've used the brackets come with kubino case to put in place the buttons
Removable cartridge
At the end of the assembling, i forgot to put in place the cartridge...
But what i saw thru the cartridge hole was so cool.
I wanna to put the cartridge and keep it removable.
I just put some Kapton tape on the cartridge, put in place inside the DMG and glueing.
After the glue have being solid, I gently removed the cartridge and the Kapton tape, in this way the glue acts like cartridge holder.
I've also put my home maid old style splash screen
This is a video of the boot
To finish this log i report some other pictures
