Yoshi's Circuit Sword Build (Split Colour Shell, DMG Back Button Bracket, Custom Stickers)

Post by Y0SHI » Wed Feb 21, 2018 8:42 am

I have been into RetroPie for a few years now and a few months whilst searching for RetroPie stuff and stumbled across this forum. I was blown away with the builds you guys have done, I instantly thought … I have to build one!

I thought I would try and go for something a little bit different so I decided on a Yoshi theme, here is how it is turning out so far …

Here are some build pics (I know you guys love ‘em :) ) …

I still need to add back buttons, a dummy cartridge and some stickers to finish it off.

UPDATE: I have now added my back buttons, completed the cartridge and I have added the stickers ...

I’m currently working on a custom emulationStation theme and setting up overlays and shaders. I’m also hoping to make a custom carry case too so we will see how that turns out

Big thanks to everyone on this forum, especially Wermy, Kite, Hoolyhoo and YaYa for making this possible ;)

Great theme choice, really cool. Some decals might be a nice addition if u want to customize it further. Some members have posted methods in the past that are a simple diy process with really nice results.

@PF21, funny that you mention decals, when I was mocking up what the colour scheme would look like I added a Yoshi egg but I never really got around to deciding where to put it. Here are my mock-ups to show you where I got up to, they also include a sneaky peak at the Yoshi emulationStation theme which I have been working on too :)

Mock-up 1 - Over the speaker grill

Mock-up 2 - Below the D-Pad

I was thinking if either trying to create a stencil and spraying it on or using a paint marker to draw it on or maybe a water slide decal if it wasn't going over the grill ... not sure I trust myself to do any of these though

BTW, I honestly can't remember where I got the images which I used to create the mock-ups, it would have been either here or google so if you recognise your thumb then big thanks for helping me on my way with my build.

@TheHappiestBug, the case is made up of 2 cases which I got from the guys over at DeadpanRobot, links to the cases below ;

White Plat It Loud Shell ...
http://www.deadpanrobot.co.uk/white-pla ... mg-sh-wpil

Green Custom Replacement Shell
http://www.deadpanrobot.co.uk/green-cus ... -sh-grn-rm

The guys at deadpanrobot were really helpful, delivery was quick so I tried to get as much of the bits which I needed for my build from them.
