Arcade cabinets joysticks work like 4 tactile switches, when you move it to the left a lever underneath will click a switch on the right, hence why you get the click arcade controllers are known for. If you want to use a analogue eriks allinone should have those broken out as it uses the atmega32u4 which supports it. You may have to reflash the MCU however, using the 6 programming pins.

Looks so awesome! I've been wanting to do this as well. I'm not a huge fan of putting a PSP analog stick below or to the right of the D-pad like some other people have done. Have you considered making a version that also has 6 face buttons? That would be great fro some fighting games in addition to the analog stick.

Keep up the great work!

Thank...

There’s a Pi3 6 button build in the works...
I’ve had the boards made for a while now...

Just need to find some time to put it all together...

Hi! I sent you a couple of e-mails but you I got no reply from you. Do you still have the same e-mail address? In order not to miss your GBZ No Dpad 6 button again I just wanted to let you know that I am ready :)

Does the joystick slide like a psp stick or does it tilt? I’ve been looking for a digital sliding joystick for ages. Is there a part link?

Do you have any recommendations on where to start if I want to learn to make my own board like you did? You mentioned this was based on a board by Helder. Did Helder release a copy people are able to modify? I'd like to learn more on how to do something like this so I can swap my d-pad for an analog stick as well.

I personally had no prior experience of any schematic or board design before embarking on these GBZ projects.....
I opted to use Eagle as that was the software most have used, and its not that difficult to use... if you can use Photoshop or similar you can use Eagle... and then I used Youtube to get a basic understanding of how to use it.... and there are a reasonable amount of videos for this, it will definitely get you going...
also vitally don't be refrained/hesitant/embarrassed/afraid to ask for assistance, the Sudomod discord is now a great place for this...
I troubled a few people (Helder, ABH and moosepr will attest to this)

Helder did release a basic board design back in 2016 I think....
but there were a fair few amount of people that took that as a open invitation to start selling the boards....
however you don't need Helder board....
as another member has kindly shared some board files (NOT for commercial uses)

viewtopic.php?f=42&t=6499#p64801

you only really need the board dimensions and the placement of the holes/cut outs and of a few of the buttons to get started...
(even though you can also easily do the dimensions yourself from scratch)
and you can then de-populate/delete the board/components and then build up to where you want it
working from a blank slate

in regards to making a board with just a Analog stick...
you may find that you have a issue navigating through Emulation Station (system & game select)
this may have been addressed or updated/implemented now...
but when I was making my first board, you needed the use of the DPad to navigate through emulation station, there was no work around for this....

if you really want that only Analog stick build....
you may need to convert the Analog stick to Digital....
there are a lot of video online (Youtube) where people have used slightly different ways about doing this...

here that 6 button version
