Hello!
I am from FL,USA and new to the GBZ community.
This is my first build, and my first build log for anything, so hopefully I will be able to provide constant updates as i go. As the title suggest, it is a build inspired by the Playstation. However since the Pi zero is not friendly with Psx games I don’t intend for it to include them, and for that matter i also don’t plan on adding analog sticks or L2R2 buttons.
Build includes:
Tinkerboy V3.0 board
RsPi ZeroW
OG Nintendo GB-DMG shell
PlayStation buttons
Xbox 360 start/select buttons (for L1R1)
Gearbest screen
Helder Retro PSU
Helder MegaBat
Removed:
Adafruit 1000C
Still need:
Volume wheel (might not include one)
Main plan is to do a 4 button build plus L1R1 just in case I need them.

Update:
I trimmed the inside of the front halve in preparation for a screen, and also cut out the screen area. At the moment I left a bit of space to trim after I get the screen glass.
Used an Xacto knife to cut the surround to keep dust inside the room to a minimum.

I used a flush cutter to trimm all screw posts from inside and then a dremel with a diamond bit to feather them down.

This is looking good so far.
First build I have seen to use the PS buttons, I am looking forward to seeing it completed.

Thanks!
I saw another build that used a combination of PsP and PSx buttons. Can’t remember the name, but it actually inspired me to go ahead and change out the buttons.
The PSx buttons I am using came from a Dualshock 2 and are 2mm taller than the DMG buttons.
I simply used a file to trim them down.
I used a drill bit to make the bottom deep so the button would seat more evenly over the silicone pad.

I used plastic from a sprue of 28mm figures to make the little “wings” to hold the buttons inside the wells. I had to trim them down until the button felt like pressing the original GB buttons.
The original GB buttons measured 10.43mm in diameter at the widest and the PS buttons 10.36mm which to me was an acceptable gap.

No real progress on hardware. Waiting on the Tinkerboy V3 to get delivered.
Made the holes for XY (square and triangle).
The B button is a little droopy, might have to do a new one or fill the interior with epoxy.
XY are not fixed yet and that is why they look deformed.

Started setting up retropie. I am connecting the Pi via HDMI to TV and using a USB keyboard. I already set the wifi and SSH to transfer ROMS.
Tested and working:
Galaga on Atari 7800
Zelda: Minish Cap on GBA worked including save file. (Sounds is really gritty might be ROM).
Addams Family on NES
Not Working:
Frogger Atari 5200 (states i need console to play, i read that I need to set up BIOS will look into that in a future update)
Super Mario AllStars on SNES keyboard non-responsive.

Small update: received Tinkerboy V3 controller.
Back shell has to be trimmed a little in the old headphone jack area, back post in the D-pad area and the 2 posts behind the AB buttons in order for the case to close.

Making the holes for L1R1 turned out to be more difficult than expected because they are ovaled instead of round.
I used a step drill to make an initial hole of 9/32” and a round jewelers file to open it up.
They are so ugly...

I used perf’board and a tactile switch for L1R1. Might switch it later for a silicone tactile switch (I dislike the sound a little), but that would be at a later time.

I also epoxied the button wells Using JBWeld clear.
