Rodocop's 17th GBZ

Post by rodocop » Fri Oct 12, 2018 11:49 am

So this one has been sitting on my shelf for quite sometime, it was waiting for a powerboost to arrive from China to finish it. Finally got those after about 40 days, ugh.

This one features an AIO board from Glitch'd Gaming (great board by the way), glow in the dark shell, yellow two part buttons from HandHeld Legend, gearbest screen, and banggood powerboost. The AIO has most things already, battery monitor, controls via onboard atmega chip, USB hub, I2s digital audio power distribution etc...So it was a really easy build.

I typically don't use these AIO boards, so it's a nice change of pace when I get my hand on one.

Anyway, here are some pics: (the glow in the dark looks really cool)

It looks cooler than expected when glowing. When not in the dark, I really like the green and yellow combo. So all in all its pretty great.

Hey, Rodo... You've made one or two Gameboy Zeroes... :)

My original DMG Gameboy Zero from '16 has glitched itself into its grave, and I think I'm going to do a refurb on it. What is everyone doing for safe shutdown switches these days (when not using Kite's AIO)? Or have most people just given up and do software shutdowns before cutting the power?

I typically use HoolyHoo's combo script, or his mintybattery script, which has some hotkeys for shutting down, then i just flip the switch off. I've used Cambles safe shutdown switch too, (only in one build). It allows you to just flip the switch as well. I'm okay with software shutdown, then sliding the switch off, so I really have not looked into adding an actual switch option. Although, after building my Kite Lite, i am really liking the slide switch.

Apparently I only have an internal photo of the front. The back really isn't much anyway, littleferris' 3d bracket fro the buttons, power switch and barrel port, and a banggood style powerboost.

Here's the front half (not showing battery monitor or shoulder buttons wires yet, also, I have since upgraded to a larger speaker, that little one was all I had at the time):

If I open it up again i'll snap a few more pics.

Top notch as usual. If I remember correctly, you and I were building our firsts around the same time.. so I gotta ask, why so many? Lol

Hehe. I've been selling them. Typically I build them. Then post for sale, slowly been building up the paypal account over the past 1.5-2 years or so. Funds my hobby, and allows me to buy some things I likely would not have bought otherwise.

Although I just built a Kite Lite, which I plan to actually keep (for now at least!).

Pretty much enjoy building over actually playing so I figured why not just sell them.
