I've finally completed my first build. It's beautiful and I want to thank Wermy for the community he's created with this site. It's been a blast gathering parts from all over the world for this and other projects it's inspired.
I'm not experienced with the dremel or soldering, so for my first build I had Jeremy at retropiehandhelds modify the case and do the soldering work; I'll be doing my next build myself, but I didn't want to practice on a beautiful original shell and circuit sword board. Jeremy (jermzz on sudomod) has been great to work with, and I'd recommend reaching out to him if you're just getting into this like me but would like a really polished final product. He's very personable, kept in close contact with me throughout the whole process, and even took the professional photos below.
I'd also like to thank Kite for his contributions to the community: his products are pricey but amazing.
In addition to those guys, a big thanks to Hoolyhoo, Erik Gee (erik_gee), YaYa, and Dextech on our forums for their products that also contribted to the build.
The shell is an original, the burgundy and light grey buttons are from retro modding, and the lens is from retropiehandhelds (for now at least they're out of stock and there aren't any more production runs planned though).
