Hope this is the right place...Power switch wiring to alternative power booster

Post by Richb77 » Tue Aug 22, 2017 2:16 am

Hello all.

I am embarking on my first Game Boy Zero build and collecting the parts i need whilst working on those i have (Already have my micro USB Cartridge made).

I have an alternative to the Adafruit 1000C booster circuit. I am not against buying the recommended but find its price steep for what amounts to €3 in parts. I have found a board on eBay in Kong Kong which i now have that seems to do the same.

https://picload.org/view/rwccogdl/pcb.png.html

You can see the six through hole pads at the bottom.

Far left is 5 vdc in (3-6v), centre pair is Battery (1s) and the right hand pair is 5 vdc out (1 amp).

I have checked it out. With no in voltage the battery is upped to 5v out on the right. With USB power in the voltage is 5v out and the battery sees 4v to charge (Not seen it fully charged as of yet).

So it seems good. My question is where to i wire in my power switch? The Adafruit booster is shown wired to GND and Enable. Do i just wire the switch between both the battery 5 vdc in +'s and GND?

Thanks in advance gents....and ladies(?)

I would just wire the power switch between the red 5V output wire and the power strip (or whatever you are using to distribute power).

Here is a link showing a diagram for a cheaper power boost that a lot of users have used, it should be similar to yours.
