New Build Help!
New Build Help!
Hello everyone! I'm excited to get started on my first GBZ.
Little about me:
- no electronics background whatsoever
- never done a project like this
- don't have access to a 3d printer
- plan on following wermy's guide Found Here
On to my big question. I've got essentially most of the parts ready to purchase, but since I can't find an AIO board anywhere I plan on using THIS PCB. I'm not sure where to look for the additional parts needed (or even what I need). Any direction would be greatly appreciated since this is my first project!
Best,
MuadDib

Welcome to the community, the PCB you are trying to use will work just fine, however I do want to recommend a different 3.5" screen that I have been using I'm my last 4 builds, it requires no modification to convert to 5v and the picture is one the best I've seen compared to the BW Screens, here is the link .............) https://www.amazon.com/Portable-Backup- ... DVD+player
Also, don't hesitate to ask if you need help with your build, this community is awesome and will help out anytime.

Thanks for the quick response! Will I run into any issues with sound? The build I'm trying to use looks like it doesn't use a Teensy board, but I've read that a lot of builds use them. Will I need to follow some other guide for sound is what I'm try to ask.Thump52 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 06, 2017 11:24 amWelcome to the community, the PCB you are trying to use will work just fine, however I do want to recommend a different 3.5" screen that I have been using I'm my last 4 builds, it requires no modification to convert to 5v and the picture is one the best I've seen compared to the BW Screens, here is the link .............) https://www.amazon.com/Portable-Backup- ... A teensy is not necessary, I have wired my PCB straight to the pi following this guide provided by a member here (Thanks to the contributor)

As for the audio, I recommend using an Adafruit 2.5w mono amp and a USB Sound card, the link below is for the one I have bought from Amazon, you can also buy generic USB Sound cards from there. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00PY ... UTF8&psc=1

Do you have a wiring diagram? I have been trying USB but it sounds pretty bad and sometimes does not work at all.Thump52 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 06, 2017 12:24 pmA teensy is not necessary, I have wired my PCB straight to the pi following this guide provided by a member here (Thanks to the contributor)

Sorry. I did see that one, I'm just trying to cut down my shipping time by not buying from there. This one should work shouldn't it? https://handheldlegend.com/collections/ ... 1398623491Eccho wrote: ↑Sat Oct 07, 2017 4:39 amTwo days ago:
