Scraping without net access?

Post by shesaysidontlisten » Tue Oct 24, 2017 1:56 pm

I want box art and metadata on my finished GBZ but my Pi0 doesn't have wireless. Is there a way to get that stuff on a phone/laptop and move it over?

Any suggestions helpful!

Yes you can. Install retropie over ubuntu. Configure scrap to use roms folders for images. Scrap. Copy the images folder from roms folders to the coreesponding folder on Retropie’s SD card and you are done.
You must work under linux absolutely as windows won’t have access to the rom partition on retropie’s SD.

Crap, I don't really have a machine to install Ubuntu on. I have a pi0-W for my next build. Maybe I can sign in with that one and copy the files over after scraping to that...

Go buy a PiZW and use it as a standalone machine ;)
It costs nothing

You should be able to install your SD card in the Pi0W, scrape, then stick the card into the Pi0.

Alternatively, you can plug a Wi-Fi dongle into the Pi0 (you'll also need a USB hub if you're going to use a USB keyboard or controller as well)
