Raspberry Pi Zero WiFi not Working

Post by pbharrell » Sat Sep 08, 2018 7:22 pm

I just bought a new Raspberry Pi Zero W and made an SD card with Retropie (from Tinkerboy's link with the adafruit retrogame preinstalled) but no matter what I do I cannot get the WiFi to work properly. I'm a newb when it comes to Raspberry Pi and Linux, but I've been trying for the past couple hours to find the solution but nothing has worked. When I run the command "ifconfig -a" all it returns is the loopback device. Any ideas why??

Have you tried instructions at https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Wifi ?
Yeah, I just skimmed through it and tried most of the methods listed but it seems like it doesn't detect the onboard wifi chip at all. I just decided to borrow a wifi dongle from a friend to finish the retropie update and install and just do the rest locally. I was never really planning on using wifi after that anyway; I just don't want to deal with this issue anymore. Thanks again for the help.
