Unless the speaker is a tiny one like the one used in the mintyPi then you need an amp for the speaker.

Although it's for another project, worth a read

I also changed out the volume wheel and the headphone jack itself too.. no change.

Are you sure I dont really need an amp? Even though I get sound through the headphones (so I know the DAC is working) The volume is still low... Like limiting headphones for kids if you know what i mean...

I have ordered a pack of amps anyways.

I'm not 100% sure what your setup is....

But from what I gathered it's
USB dac
Headphone socket
Volume wheel
Speaker
(Could be wrong)...

It should be...
USB dac
Volume wheel (optional)
Headphone socket
Amp (optional)
Speaker

You could miss out the volume wheel, and have it setup like the mintyPi...
And control the volume via the Hotkey + L & R...

But it would help if you could post pics of your wiring setup...
You may just have something out of place...

.
In that order?

You’re right but I’m going
DAC>volume wheel>headphone jack> speaker

Update!

I have full audio signal now. But it’s poor audio quality. Like “static” when the wheel is turned all the way down. I thought usb audio was supposed to be better quality sound vs. PWM audio.

What can I do to resolve this?

Adding a ferrite beads to the speaker will elimate some of the noise. Adding a 10-20ohm resistor to the positive line of the speaker will Help a lot.

Thanks! I’ll give it a go.
Say I have a choice of resistors.. which should I choose?

Try a 15ohm resistor. If the volume is too low then try a lower value.
