Wire from powerboost to powerstrip

Hi,
I shredded a decent quality usb cable to get the wire for my GBZ but i recall in the video guide a mention of using thicker gauge wire for the power coming from the powerboost. This is obviously going to be the biggest power draw as it is being routed to every device. Will the usb wire serve for this or should i get something thicker? An amazon link would be appreciated
Thanks!

Ideally thicker. 26awg or perhaps 24awg.
Silicon covered is best, too.

Would you recommend that for all 5V power cables or just the one running from the powerboost? I assume thinner stuff is ok for ground wires? Thanks for your help!

Personally I don't for all devices but definitely for 5V and GND inputs to and from the powerboost / power supply. Also for powerboard input if you're using one. Individual components like the USB port or the USB Soundcard i use standard 28awg.
As room inside your shell decreases you'll need to assess. That said, silicone wire is really flexible so you could probably get away with 24awg all in! Dont quote me on it though.

Why use thick wire for the ground wire, is it carrying a lot of current?
