Hi, new to the forums. I'm no stranger to electronic stuff since i have a degree in it, but my job rarely has me do any circuitry stuff so a lot of the experience has left me.

I am gathering the parts to make a GBZero currently and i decided i didnt want to bother with the retro feel of the game cart for an SD card or something. As a result, i need something to do with that space. I figured why not put a second battery in there?

My issue is battery-related stuff is something i havnt tampered with before. How would i go about wiring that up using the PowerBoost 1000C battery charger/5V boost from Adafruit and 2500 mAh Lithium Ion Polymer Batteries? Guess my main concern is both can you even wire these batteries that way and can the booster handle it.

What capacity battery are you looking at for your build?

If you want to utilise the cart space, mod the back of the shell slightly and run a long thin high mAh battery up through the cart bay.

Something like an extended Galaxy note battery?

Then maybe print one of those faux cartridge caps to cover.

This will hook up to the Powerboost as standard.

i do not recommend putting two batteries in parallel mode. To do this it is better to know what you are doing as the first connection will draw a LOT current from one battery to the other to regulate equally voltage from one battery to the other one.
The calculation is based on battery resistance and voltage difference from the two packs, and as U=RI and P=UI, you can understand easily how high can get current.
This will burn or explode battery or damage it.
Use with caution.

Like Lphillimore said before, better to trash the battery tray completely and put one big cell with higher power to fill the whole space.

Or you can go with that cell which i'm going to use. It fits the battery tray with a slight grinding and has 4800mAh power
it allows you to keep a stock look for the game boy
