Poor image quality from variant 9 BW screen

Hi all.

I'm rapidly progressing with my build and have my screen centred an stuck into my case now.

Upon a test boot I noticed the screen image is not sharp. I cannot read the text on the boot sequence and once emu station has booted the first install setup is almost illegible.

Is that normal or is it me? There seems to be a "shimmer" on the retro pi splash screen too.
