Hi,

i found the screen: https://www.banggood.com/Geekwrom-HD-3_ ... e_products today. Looks very nice for our ZeroBoy projects.

It has very nice resolution 800x480 and directly solderable DPI pins (after removing the header). NO ribbon cable - no adapter needed.

Did i miss something or can i use this?

i've seen that screen, but gave it a miss.....

main reasons....

no one has used one before in a GBZ build or on retropie, so its the unknown
the board looks like its populated to the edges, which means if its a little too big (like the kedei hdmi) its gonna be a crap shoot trimming it

also it costs way more then the other screens.....

someone needs to buy one and take the gamble.... it could pay off...
if it does, it will be a nice crisp/clear display for the games....

.

have ordered one of these screens to see if they could work. unfortunatly they are WAY too big to fit the case in any way both upright or landscape doesnt mather

this screen hits 4 inch rather then 3.5. as its slightly larger then an original Rpi3 v2

added image is a 4.5 inch model in the exact same trend only its even wider

I don't recommend those screens. Their refresh rate is terrible when using retropie. I have one, and just use it for controlling my otherwise headless NAS.
EDIT: Actually this appears to be a different screen to mine. Mine has four chips on the back, and this just has one. It might be better, and the reviews seem to indicate it does not suffer from the same problems as mine.

I've seen this one before while looking for DPI screen. Would love to try this one for my next build. Im just a little worried about the 85mm×56.5mm dimension. But i think it's doable. Native resolution is 800x480 and connected directly via the DPI interface, holy cow! Now that's a winner! 😁😁

The size of the screen is there abouts with the kedei (or similar) which is also 85mm

It's the board that's concerning...
As the kedei board needs trimming, so will this one...
But unlike the kedei board, which has been tried and tested.
This board is gonna be a gamble... But might pay off

Yeah you're right about that. I can try it if someone is willing to send and pay it for me. Hahah. 😁😁😁
