Troubleshooting SD card wiring

Hi chaps,

I am having a sod of a time with relocating my micro SD card into the cartridge.

I have checked continuity from the SD adapter to the pins on the cartridge slot thingy.

Those wires are colour coded and I have soldered them to the corresponding pads on the Pi zero. Continuity from the SD adapter (which works) to the Pi zero is good and correct (correct colour/corresponding pin goes to the correct pad).

I have even probed the micro SD slot on the Pi to the pads to make sure the data I have there is correct (it is).

I am at a complete loss. Nothing works!

The SD card pre loaded and boots direct from the Pi zero but does nowt when taking it remote. Does it need a pull-up? Or more power?

What's the disadvantage of leaving the SD in the Pi (other than the cool SD in a cartridge factor)

Need photos of your wiring.

The only practical advantage of a cartridge mounted card is ease of access to the card - you can pull it and mount it in another device for set-up/tweaking, or install a new card easily.

Tricky picking through the wiring.

But with the cart mounted I have continuity from the wire/Pi solder pads and the pins on the SD card adapter

The cables must be as short as possible. Then put some shielding on the cable after twisting them together to avoid interferences.

Try this and let us know

Which? The coloured or the lacquered. Thelacquered where kept long as it's a PITA diagnosing with them short. That being said if that's the issue then that's what I will do.

Both cables. Try to shorten a bit the lackered ones, and make the colored as short as possible.

OK. I have shortened the wiring. I have checked layout (Its all matching colours now) and continuity is good from the adapter to the pi zero.

I have shielded the wires with foil and still nothing.

The only thing i can think is a dodgy adapter? But it worked in my laptop...

I am getting prepared to cut my losses on this and move on (I have spent ages on it already).

Hummmm. Looks good to me, cables are short, you even added the filtering...
did you test the sd card on another pi ?
did you test another sd card ?
is your pi booting when this sd card is inserted into its own port ?

I'm going to try another Pi, another SD card next. Thanks for all the help!
