I just finished hooking up my button board and teensy and everything works fine except the left direction on the d-pad. is there a way to find out whats going on?

Maybe a bad witing or soldering of the wire dealing the left direction ?
Could you post more information and pictures and also point to the code you used to program Teensy, it can help us to help you

Should I post a copy of the code exactly? Or just the knowledge it's his code enough?

First, clean the contact pads with an eraser.
And post the code so we can see.
