I'm soldering up and testing out the USB port and USB hub, and I keep running into an issue. At first I thought it was the hub, but then I tried soldering the port directly to the Pi, and I have the same problem. Whenever I plug a controller into the port, the Pi screen goes black and won't come back on until the controller is unplugged. As soon as I unplug, the Pi reboots and runs like normal. Does anyone see anything wrong with what I've done here?

The problem seems to happen whether I have the port soldered into the hub and the hub connected to the Pi's mini USB port, the Pi hardwired to the hub which is soldered to this port, or whether I connect the port directly to PP22 and 23.

I'd take a multimeter and make sure none of the data or power pins are shorting against the housing of the port. What happens is that normally the pins and housing (that has 2 pins) are all soldered to a PCB so they don't move around, but when you cut it free of the PCB (or at least the housing free) it can shift around and short against the pins. I'd also double check the wiring is the right way around, looks like you have RWGB correct, but its worth just double checking.
