My gameboy zero is nearly complete, but I ran into a major roadblock yesterday. After desoldering the usb plug, I tried wiring the ground and voltage lines to my power strip. This immediately shut down my system. I think the problem is that the adapter requires more power than it can get, but I'm really no expert. HELP!

Are you
live soldering? As in, you're power up?
On most soldering stations (i have a Weller) and the
soldering tip will act as a ground
If you are live soldering, you may be temporarily 'shorting' our the power

I've wired it up without system power, but after trying to boot the system, the indicator LEDs turn on for a second and immediately shut off.
