Noob's First built preparation: PSP joystick?

Post by Nicode70 » Fri Feb 23, 2018 7:53 am

Hi Everybody,

i've been lurking around this board for some time now and have preordered Kite's CS.

i've sourced all the parts, but now i'm having second thoughts about the PSP joystick.

do I really need one to play N64 games? and also do i need 4 shoulder's buttons?

I'm planning on playing 4 N64 games: Mario, Mario Kart, Goldeneye and Zelda

thank you for your input.

Yes, you need a joystick and R1, R2, L1, L2. HoolyHoo has an awesome bracket for the screen/psp1000 joystick that works like a charm! He also has a board for your buttons needed. You also might want a mode/switch bracket.

Thanks!

Do I really need 4 buttons on the back for N64 games? Or 2 can be enough?

With the joystick added, you program the d-pad as the "c" buttons and the x and/or y buttons as the "z" button. Then you could get away with only 2 back buttons for L and R.

Thank you!

Let’s go for a PSP joystick and 2 back buttons.

Remember though, most PSX (PS1) games require 4 back buttons which the circuit sword is very well capable of. Just something to think about.
