Could you explain how you are writing the SD image to card? the ACT LED is on solidly which is usually SD related. If the ACT LED starts blinking etc then it's booting

I’m having similar problem: lcd backlight is on but no image. I do get blinking ACT light and have tried with a known working MicroSD. Also, when I switch power off it takes a couple seconds to turn off as though it is doing safe shutdown. Here is the screen and LED’s. I tried reinserting the LCD ribbon cable as well to no effect. Any ideas?

Place module in at a 45 degree angle, and push it to the BACK of the socket.. lever down to about 35 degrees angle, and push into the back of the socket and maintain this pressure to the back of the socket.. now lever down the module (pressure still to back!) all the way until it 'clicks' into both of the tabs.. the tabs should end up being straight/parallel to each other, in your case the left one is most likely bent out because it hasn't "clicked".
