Hey guys im having a little trouble,
UP DOWN LEFT RIGHT AND B buttons all work fine however my A button is unresponsive.. I can get to menues and press B to exit but cant select anything which has my build at a standstill.
BE A LEGEND and help me out.

I suggest checking the solder joints between the board and the Pi.

Do you mean my solder points on the pi or the actual board where the pins come out from

Both, all it takes is for one of them to be faulty for it to not work.

Pin 3 is the one you should look at as that is the A button:

Yeah i learnt that pin 3 is the problem so i reflowed it a few times but no luck

If you have a multimeter handy, put it into continuity mode, put one on pin 3 and the other onto the pad for A, see if there is a connection.

Thanks mate im about twenty minutes from home so i can check that out. Thanks for your help so far.. really hope i can shut this case lol

Had a test with the multi and continuity mode was all good. Such a strange occurance.

You may have already tried this, but swap out the silicone pad. i've had a few aftermarket ones that did not work well (as well as an original that did not work). Also I suggest pressing the button with the pad alone when the PCB in outside of the case, to ensure that it works there.

You can also short the pad manually and see if it works that way (Use a wire soldered to a ground point somewhere, and touch the non ground portion of the button contacts.)

In some of my gabozes I have also had to add a small shim inside the button, to allow it to press the PCB a bit better, and get a better contact.

Worst case it's a dead GPIO, and you'll need to run a jumper to an unused wire, and then amend the retroarch file to show the new GPIO (this would be my last resort, since it seems unlikely to me to be the issue)

i'm having a similar issue, ive tested continuity on my pins and it seems everything is fine, but for the life of me I cant get my down button to work. I've tried two different pads on this, but it dosnt seem to make a difference...i'm pretty much stuck at this point
