Hi everyone, this is my first post here and had a few questions. I am looking to build a gbz, preferably using the tinkeyboy v3 or v2, and would like some hardware suggestions. Im still new to this and sort of confused about everything that is needed. If possible could you guys give me some recommendations of everything that is needed to make this happen? Some criteria; I would like to have audio but if its much easier without im fine with that, would like it to be withing 100-150 USD, and finally want it to function well! Thank you in advance!

First time build I'd reccomended a tinkerboy V3, it has audio, controls and a hub all built in for you, making it extremely easy.

I am in the middle of a build using The V3 controller.
All you need to add for a functional GBZ is:

Raspbery pi of your choice (PiZero, PiZeroW or Pi3 being the most common)

Monitor/screen (Amazon BW or Gearbest)

Powerboost/converter/charger (Adafruit 500c/1000c, Gearbest powerboost)
-the gearbest power boost is discontinued from their website people still find it through Aliexpress.

Battery/PowerSupply (a basic MicroUSB that supplies 5V-1A, or a 3.7V Li-Po battery of at least 2000mAH.

Power Switch

MicroSD card (for Retropie OS and game storage anything from 8-32GB should suit your needs depending on which games you plan on adding)

And the most obvious parts your gameboy shell and all buttons you need.

If you own all the tools for soldering and working with electronics the build will stay within your budget.

You still need a few optional parts for a complete build like:
Speaker
Volume adjustment wheel
MicroUSB breakoutboard (to charge the GBZ from a more accesible point on the unit)
USB female (if you use a pi wihout wifi, to add games through a USB drive)
