Interesting Issues with Kite AIO

Hello!

I recently purchased two of Kite's AIO from the latest pre-order and I am having some interesting issues. The main problem is that nothing will display on the screen.

When I plug in a USB-C and press the power button, all of the appropriate lights turn on for both boards, but when I put in the Pi, things get a little weird. One of them seems to be broken somehow, but I don't know enough to explain it. I have two photos that showcase the lights:

As for what is displayed on the screen, one of the boards will just spaz out when everything is connected to it (screen, Pi, SD card and back panel). Lights on the Circuit Sword will blink crazily and the screen will flicker.

The other board will show a solid white screen with one of the Pis connected and a solid black screen with the other Pi connected. Weird, right? Either way, I can't get any combination of board and Pi to boot fully. Any ideas out there?

EDIT:

I added some photos of everything hooked up. Only using one board here with two different Pis, but the other board has the same reaction.

Just to ask: did you load the specific image to the SD card?

I did, I used the one from https://github.com/kiteretro/Circuit-Sword/releases

I added two photos to the original post to hopefully show more of the issue.

I don't know but maybe a battery connected is mandatory for running?

The white screen one is missing some of the power LEDs, if you remove the CM3 do those light up? And if you have a multimeter can you measure the voltages on the test holes on the other side of the board in both cases?

When you plug the SD into your PC, does it pop up as a about 58MB drive? (this is the expected behaviour if so)

Attached is the above board without either CM3 in.

The photos of everything hooked up in my original post are actually the same board twice (I kept the tab in the top corner attached to one of the boards so I could easily tell them apart).

The other board also has all of the LEDs light up without a CM3 inserted

However, the second board has a reaction after a few moments of being plugged in. The LED labelled 'BL' (located underneath where the CM3 would be positioned) begins to flash rapidly and the screen follows suit.

Not sure if I can link mp4, but here is a direct link to the video: https://imgur.com/a/FSxGiY1

I will purchase a multimeter and get you those results as soon as I can!

The SD plugged in reads 56.8 MB.

Hm well the LEDs are back on on both now.. the flashing backlight and LED is def a problem, this should have been caught in my testing which is a shame :|

That means your SD is good, so i'm really suspecting you may have hit this issue https://github.com/kiteretro/Circuit-Sw ... creen-only which is really unfortunate to happen to two!! It might be a good idea to email me with your full address and I'll replace those boards and sort out a return for you

Hey, I'm actually having a similar issue, and I do apologize for stealing your thread for my problem, I just happen to have the same thing wrong with mine.
All of the LED lights work on mine, even the yellow blinking light when removing the Micro SD card. I've tried all versions of Retropie on different SD cards... Nothing.
I checked the voltage on the back, I did get reading going from GND to the other pins (VCC, 3v3,1v8,5v). As of right now, my screen is doing the same flickering behavior as Tedmo.

As you can see, I'm a fan of Kites work. My KCS Lite came in yesterday, but I can't get the Circuit Sword to work.

Sounds similar then, could you send me an email and I'll sort out replacing your board! Everything else looks ok to me
