Slowdown and Crash issue Audio?

Hi,

On with my first Gameboy Zero build and I’m almost done. Problem is audio is a little glitchy and after playing a little of certain games or just launching others the PI zero seems to grind to a halt and the audio gets very scratchy. I really feel like this is an audio issue so i’m Going to try unsoldering the USB sound card from the PI and see how that goes. Anyone had anything similar?

Sound setup is pizero to usb soundcard (cheap eBay) then standard headphone jack into an Ada fruit mono amp and original Gameboy speaker.

At first I thought it was processing power or heat but even when cold some games run bad. Michael Jackson’s moonwalked wouldn’t run at all until the audio randomly stopped working once and then it ran total fine but silent. Are there any recommendations for USB sound cards or alternatives?

Ok so with usb soundcard it runs flawlessly (slight screen fuzziness aside) so somehow the audio is causing an issue.

Try without the amp for now.

Commonly used usb sound module is the the pcm2704. Pinout is available at https://www.tinkerboy.xyz/pinout-diagra ... -adapters/.
