Okay I’ve tried powering the 3.5 inch bw screen with pp1 and pp5 and I’ve tried powering it directly to the power boost I just need a bit of help I’m getting frustrated

Edit: for bw screen variant 13 removing the chip helped me but I also got a bit to zealous when I soldered the 5v wire to the pad and i over heated it and it came off

this picture/image/photo doesnt really help much.....
(you asked/queried about a screen, and shown just a RPi and a power-boost)

has the screen been wired/connected to the RPi (cant tell from what you've posted).....
the screen needs the AV connection to be wired/connected properly to the RPi....
and the RPi actually sending it a signal for the screen to power up (this is assuming that all power connections are correct)

so this could be the main/other issue.....
not sure....
but it looks like you have a power-boost basic there (could be wrong on this)
it could be a case that your not providing enough power for the RPi and the screen to function properly (or at all)....

then....
just punching in the dark here, as the photo doesn't provide any good info of whats you've done or got....

which screen is it....
could it be a screen that needs a mod to be done to it for it to be able to run on 5V....
has that mod been done correctly (if needed).....

it could be any of these issues.....
maybe just one....
be a combination of a couple....
or it could be everything....

better photos would have helped here or more info....

Hey yeah sorry about the basic photos I got everything wired up properly but the screen is drawing to much power and the pi won’t turn on when it’s wired up do you know how to fix this?

What screen are you using? Is it rated to run off of 5V? If not, did you do any mods to get it to run on 5V.

Did you test the screen prior to soldering to confirm that it actually worked in the first place?

Is it a screen on the wiki that is known to work? Or some other type. We really need that information to help at all.

Okay I’m using variant 13 I’ve wired the 5v wire to the chip like the forum says if I plug the pi in directly the screen and pi work but if I try to use the battery it doesn’t work and I was messing with it trying to connect the screen ground to different pins right now it’s on pin 7 I’m using a pi 2

i would not buy a Power Boost......
and instead go for Helder Retro PSU....

https://heldergametech.com/shop/gameboy-zero/retropsu/

the only advantage I see with the Power Boost is that you can pair one of Cambles Safe Shutdown boards to it (for a safe S/D)

Helder Retro PSU doesnt as of yet a switch based shutdown solution (a button can be used to initiate a shutdown command)
but its about the same cost as a Power Boost
and can handle a lot more power consuming components (up to 3A)
it can also provide a on-screen battery indicator (via a script)
and also provide the controls with a analog stick

but get whatever suits you....
(but you'll need something better than the Power Boost Basic you already have)
