I have a few questions to add about the GBZ project:
1. Can the emulator run smoothly PS1 game on raspberry pi zero ? (Like fire emblem, super robot wars etc...)
2. If 1. is yes, why don't anyone add L2, R2 buttons to the gameboy?
3. Since the raspberry pi zero is so hard to find, do anyone thinking of sink down the raspberry pi 3 to use it as an alternative?

I have a PI 3 and ran 007 goldeneye on it using default settings and resolution and it actually had very little lag. I'm sure if I tweaked the resolution it would run great. I'm guessing that n64 games are more resource intensive than ps1 games so if it ran the n64 games then it should have no problem with the ps1 roms. It's also worth noting that the pi3 fits in the cartridge section w/o trimming the sides, you will need to remove some of the ports and might end up losing the cartridge slot though. If you want ps1 and n64 games then avoid the pi zero, if not get the zero since it will save alot of space.

That would be great if I can save the card reader feature, but I can live without it since the pi zero is so hard to find right now.

The pi 3 is not recomended for a mobile project due to extreme heat in enclosed spaces and very high power consumption, you'd be better off with a pi 2 or zero.

+1, the Pi 3 really isn't made for this application...
