[Solved] CSO slow Wifi

Post by N.I.C.E » Sun Jun 10, 2018 3:37 am

Hey there,

I received my CSO this week and assembled my Gameboy yesterday with joy and success. Big thanks to kite, HoolyHoo and the nice community.

But despite everything runs fine, I have noticed that Wifi is painfully slow. A wget download from a nearby server will run at 500kByte/s, a local SFTP tranfer using FileZilla only around 250kByte/s. I own an ordinary Pi3 which transfers around 10 times faster using Wifi.
I am using the latest release (retropie-4.4-rpi2_rpi3-wifi_CSO_CM3_20180603-154410.zip).

Is this "normal"?

Apart from the slow speed, the connection is reliable. It is not a massive deal, I just wanted to transfer some PSX roms using SFTP instead of USB just for being lazy

The wifi isn't very strong, try moving it closer to where your router is :)

Also, for large files it's often easier/quicker to use something like Paragon EXTFS on your PC/Mac

Yeah, wifi on the Pi never was the strongest, that's why I tested directly nearby the router but it was slow.
Nonetheless it speeded up itself magically. Since two day wifi runs like hell (for Pi standards) so... fixed... somehow

Btw: I am transferring my roms using samba now as the CM3 often freezed during transfer (I think it's this problem:
https://github.com/kiteretro/Circuit-Sword/issues/43) using SFTP. Samba works like a charm even for big files.
